My Little Clothing Solution

Well, I have been slowly applying for jobs. There was just one problem with my wardrobe: not enough clothes for summer that aren't tank tops. I wear t-shirts and tank tops all the time. I have some nice dressier tanks too. I just have a problem, I have a giant cupcake skull on my upper arm. I can cover it with a short sleeve shirt, but I don't have any that are dressy. Ok, I have 2.

I was in Fort Worth the other day and I looked at one store. Nothing that I liked that would cover the tattoo. So, I went to target. Yup! They have stuff! Instead of buying a shirt that I can wear once, I bought a lightweight, short sleeve cardigan. Now I can wear it over my tanks and if I am applying for jobs, I can wear it with any tank top and look nice. Yay!

I do have other wraps and such, they are long sleeve though and it's pretty warm here. The one I bought is pictured below.

Quick! Write this down!

We have to document it!

Ok, it isn't that rare. B made supper at home 2 nights in a row! Last night and tonight. Tacos and brats! Love the man!

It was the first time he has made dinner for all of us since we moved here. Yesterday, he went all out. We were going to have taco salad, but we got to El Rancho to take advantage of some great deals, a guy gave us a freshly made package of tortillas, still hot. Only $1.99! So, along with that, we got some tomatoes (romas for $.98 for 2 pounds!), Jalapeños, limes, lettuce and some of their beef for tacos. We picked up other things too, but the allure of fresh tortillas and homemade salsa was too good for us not to have tacos. B also got a couple avocados later to make homemade guacamole. My favorite.

Really, we wound up going to 3 stores after making our list and checking ads for the best deals and only spent $100 for 2 weeks worth of groceries for 3 people. Now, we didn't get cereal or milk or eggs, but those can easily be picked up (the Aldis here has milk for $1.99). So still not much more than our initial budget. The eggs will allow me to make cookies and other snacks (we have mixes on hand).

I only made one thing for our meal yesterday: jicama Slushies made from jicama Kool-Aid found at El Rancho. It was a hit! I love going there to get flavors and things you can't find anywhere else (Pineapple Kool-Aid? Mango Peach? Yes please!)

Anyone else go to special stores just for amazing items that are otherwise hard to find?

I hate making plans...

B, C, and I were supposed to go back to ikea tomorrow, but B got pulled into a catering event. I hate when this happens. I would love to say this doesn't happen often, but it does. Usually it's with gifts. It's April now and I still have never gotten anything for valentine's day from B.

Oh well, I guess I will get over it, eventually.

Thrifting it up!

Well, today, my husband may kill me. I spent $100 on clothes for C and I. Honestly, I would say it could've been worse. C got 8 tops and 5 bottoms. 2 of the tops were things she can use to dress up other things. Thankfully, I was able to pick out and take out a lot of the things inappropriate for a girl her age. Unfortunately, I was only able to find 3 tops and 2 bottoms. It's difficult for me to find things in my style and size.
Here in Texas, there is something I have never seen, it's not exactly a thrift store, but a plus size consignment shop. They have some beautiful things. I tried on lots of clothes today, just sometimes they fit weird on me.

I think this day was a success, C is set for the summer, she said so herself and I walked away with some clothes. I usually feel really defeated after a day like today, but I had my little girl by my side. She even told me a big fat no on one cute shirt, it made me look terrible. At least she is giving an honest opinion, even if it's the Offal Truth.

Also, we got tons of name brands, a Candies top, stuff from matrices, all for a lot cheaper, don't be afraid of the thrift stores. Just dig a little and wear comfy shoes.
