We as a family aren't moving, but the site is. I moved the site to word press. It has more stuff and I am totally geeking out about it. Update your favorites folks! The next post will be on the new site. And I will thank all of you ahead of time for bearing with me while I tweak everything on the new site.

Blast from the past: Many shades and styles of me
Today, B paid a woman to cut my hair. I explained to her that I am not satisfied with my hair. I have this mullet-y piece in the back because my hair is too long at my neckline. Originally, I wanted to grow it out.
I started showing her pictures of me past. She thinks I should go back to blonde. And B was in the back agreeing (behind my back!).
These are actually both from 2009. Its the year B and I started dating and the year I stopped trying to please everyone else. I up and chopped off my hair and bleached it in the first pic (of me holding a friend's dog) and I continued to dye it a blonde hue in the second pic (its from Sepetemer). The pics are roughly 5 months apart, but I loved my hair short and sassy like that. Unfortunately, I couldn't find someone to cut my hair that well again.
Our wedding day, it was back dark and it was shorter, but not as short. This was in 2010 and I was growing it out or something. I don't really remember. I hated having to find a new hairdresser because the one I liked, quit the salon I went to. I gave up after awhile.
This was earlier this year. I went short again. I loved the cut and the color. In the picture, I was sending it to B and Charity so they could see mama's new do. I wasn't sure because I hadn't "played with it yet". I did love it though. Just we moved away and the original person who cut it, is in Missouri and I am not.
All in all, the consensus is to go back to blonde, and go short again. It fits my personality and it looks good. What do you think?

This picture is from May 2008. I love the style and the color, but it really takes a lot of patience for me to grow it back to this length. Plus....THE HEAT. Oh. Em. Gee. It was hot to maintain it! I have naturally wavy hair and to get it looking like the picture above, I not only had to straighten it, I had to curl it too. And god forbid the humidity was a beast that day, all my efforts would be wasted and I would just pull it up anyways. Lame.

PSA: Fire Ants
This PSA (Public Service Announcement) is brought to you by my left foot!
Yes, I am laughing about this. However, this is no laughing matter.
A few days ago, I was walking Lucky in an area we don't normally walk, I saw a giant anthill. I thought I had avoided it completely. Nope. I kept walking and look down and there were roughly 20 tiny dark red, almost black ants on my left foot. And it felt like it was burning, literally.
I swatted them off and my foot was still burning. There were still a few on there and a few feet away, I got them off. I was seriously freaked out.
To be honest, we don't have fire ants in Omaha. Not any I had ever run into.
So, I went inside, took some allergy medicine and text B. He immediately called me. He asked what the ants looked like, and told me they were fire ants. I had no idea they were so tiny and evil. (I actually looked up fire ants and there were some sites that said they weren't in Texas, they lied). B had to call me back, he had to find out what to do.
He calls me back, I had to put anti-itch cream on the bites/stings and PRID, a drawing salve. Also, I needed to stay awake because we had to make sure that I was not allergic to them. See, they can cause a severe allergic reaction to a person and close up an airway. Yes, they can be serious. Thankfully, I am not severely allergic to them and my throat didn't close up. Thank God. He was worried because I had never experienced fire ants.
So, allergy medicine (something like Benadryl), anti-itch cream, and a drawing salve (PRID is natural and I found it at a pharmacy). If your throat closes up, call 911 or have someone take you to an ER immediately. Yes, they are a bite/sting, but if you have never experienced them, you need to take it seriously, just like a bee, wasp, etc sting.
I will not subject you to a picture of my foot. The bites now have white heads, apparently the poison is going to the surface. Do not pop them or scratch them. They need to heal on their own and itching/popping can spread the poison.
This is not all fact, just what worked for me, so far. Consult your doctor if you are concerned and keep away from the ants! I still feel creepy crawlies on my foot/body when I go outside. Yuck.

Meet the Family: Me
Hello all! I almost didn't post this today, I was going to wait until tomorrow, since it is my birthday! Heyyy!!
So, my birthday is tomorrow, I will be 29. The first one. I kind of go into shock every time I say that. So, a bit about me...
I grew up in Omaha, NE. I lived with my dad and brother from 7 to 17. My dad was a hard worker and we started off in a small one bedroom apartment. He now lives in a 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom house. Yea, he worked his butt off for it.
I had Charity when I was 19. I was just a kid and didn't know what I was doing at all. I wish I was older, more mature, but things happen for a reason. I love her with all my heart. The pregnancy was easy physically, but hard emotionally.
I got sober at 22. A spring chicken! Ha! I have been sober since. Its not always easy, even after all these years, but it is easier than it was 6 years ago.
B and I got married at 25 and 35. It was a tiny affair, 8 people there, 20 at the "reception". It was what we wanted, drama free and small. And under $300, including rings.
That is a bit of a summary of me. I love cooking and crafting. My favorite color is green. I could eat pizza almost every day. I love a good steak and baked potato. I am also a nerd. Bazinga.

Hmmm
I bet you came here hoping to learn more about me. Sorry to disappoint. I am taking day to enjoy the rain and cooler weather. And our TV. I will look completely ashamed and bring you me tomorrow.
In the meantime, I will watch Julie & Julia.

Small Progress
I have been making a little progress on the apartment here.
Last weekend, we got a shower curtain and rug for the bathroom! Very exciting. I put the shower curtain up right away but waited to clean and organize the bathroom before putting the rug down. It is so plush. I will give a breakdown of costs and pictures once it is more complete. There is some deeper cleaning that needs to get done, but it is very nice so far.
I also cleaned the closet. It is seriously lacking lots of things, like a shelf or something but it is so much nicer to walk into the bathroom and not open the closet to chaos!
We were also given a tv that will go in our living room. My neighbor was going to throw it away and gave it to us instead. It came with a stand, so I don't have to worry about figuring out what to put a giant tv on!
It's small progress and it is going slower than I would like, but it is progress.
